We had been working closely with Simmons wheels so that we could run the vehicle on 18 inch rims rather than 19’s. And the wheels were delivered this morning and they have come up nothing short of spectacular:

  • 18 x 9 inch fronts
  • 18 x 11 inch rears

A lot of work has gone under the skin of the vehicle. All brake lines steel and braided have been run, wiring and other work. The engine and transmission have been fitted into the vehicle with WEVO C2 semi-solid engine mounts and WEVO 3.2 G50 transmission s/s beam kit’s being used to hold them in place.

The majority of the suspension and brake work has been carried out:

  • 935 style front and rear torsion arms
  • Fox shox remote reservoir front and rear shock absorbers
  • 3.3 Turbo front hubs and rear control arms
  • WEVO camberking front strut brace with integral mono-ball tops
  • Rear mono-ball cartridges
  • Adjustable front and rear sway bars
  • Front GT3 six piston calipers (yellow) on 380mm two piece discs and custom hat and caliper adaptors
  • Rear GT3 four piston caliper (yellow) on 330mm one piece rear discs and caliper adaptors
  • Dual brake master cylinder conversion

The 3.2C G50 transmission sourced from the USA has arrived and been overhauled as well. Steel syncros, modified sliders, shift forks and a ZF limited slip differential have all been used.

The car has just returned from Mark One Engineering with a half cage in place along with some strengthening of the front strut towers for the front and rear coil over suspension kit that will be going into the car.

Only minor work has been carried out over the last extended period due to time constraints of other jobs. Work has just been completed on the engine. We took a stock 964 3.6 motor and gave it the full BWA treatment:

  • GT3 oil pump
  • H-Beam conrods
  • Crankcase preparation
  • Full engine balance and blue print
  • Mahle Motorsport 3.8 RSR Piston and cylinder set
  • Cylinder head overhaul, valve grind, port and polish
  • GE-80 Camshafts
  • Racing valve spring and retainer set
  • Cryo and shot peening treatment
  • TWM induction manifold set
  • Uni Filter air cleaner set
  • Bead blasting and powder coating of various components
Plus some experimental designs which we will wait to see the results on the dyno when the car is finished.

The car has now returned from Zag sporting its first under-coat of paint as to prevent rusting of the bare metal due to the lengthy nature of this project. The car is now RHD is ready for a G50 transmission but has also undergone a facelift. Zag removed the sunroof and fitted a non-sunroof turret; they have also modified the frontal area to accept 993 front gaurds and have welded on rear 993 quarter panels and fitted a 993 style engine cradle/rear beaver panel to easily accept our 964 engine transplant.

28/10/2006

The car has been completely stripped out and gutted. The engine and gearbox had by now both been removed, reconditioned and sold on through the BWA engine and transmission program as they would not be required as part of this project. The car has now been put onto a tow truck and sent to Zag Automotive in St Marys who will carry out a RHD conversion and G50 rear torque tube replacement and body conversion.

BWA is the proud new owner of a car. A white 1982 911 SC LHD imported from Japan the aim of this project is to produce something special using the combined experience at BWA along with the new performance orientated line of parts that has been growing over the last 12 months or so. It will finish life as a speed yellow 993 GT2 clone.
